Energy-Efficient Glass: How it Can Save You Money and Improve Comfort

When considering creating a more comfortable and cost-efficient home or business, your windows might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but they should be. Where weather extremes are all too familiar, energy-efficient glass isn’t just a luxury—it’s a smart,...

If your bathroom is looking a bit out of date or just generally drab, but you’re not ready for a full remodel, consider adding a shower or upgrading your current shower. The shower is a focal point in a bathroom, and it draws the eye when you enter, so a new custom design will immediately make your bathroom look fresh again.

When updating though, don’t settle for an ordinary shower. Create a one-of-kind glass shower enclosure with the colors, fixtures and accessories that you love. Just a few of the options available for your shower include:

1/4 or 3/8 Tempered Glass

Tempered glass is safer than normal glass. It’s processed by thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength. If broken, the glass will shatter into small chunks instead of jagged shards, and it’s less likely to cause injury. You can select clear glass or select a glass with a frosted or geometric finish for a more interesting design.

Sliding By-pass Shower Door

A by-pass door uses top hung panels that run in parallel tracks affixed to the top and bottom of the unit. The panels slide sideways, overlapping each other to allow access to the shower from either side. This is quite convenient and a very clean look. Choose from a variety of metal finishes and glass options to fit your style.

Neo Angle Shower Enclosure

This diamond-shaped shower is quite stylish in any bathroom. It’s made up of three glass sides enclosing two walls. Because of the shape, it’s a real space saver, especially for smaller bathrooms. The design typically includes a glass door placed across from the inner corner of the shower, while the two glass panels on either side reach back to each wall at an angle. You can select a framed or a frameless model, along with your choice of custom finishes.

Framed Shower Enclosure

This type of popular enclosure has metal around the entire structure, including the door. Choose chrome, nickel, gold, or even a black frame for something truly unique. Framed enclosures are very effective at keeping water inside the shower. You can even have the door placed right in front of the shower spray without having to worry about leaks.

Frameless Shower Enclosure

This type of enclosure is usually considered an upgrade over a framed shower. Some have metal around the panels, or a header for safety, and some come completely frameless. A frameless shower never has metal around the door though, where it’s attached only by hinges. Frameless showers allow for optimal customization, because they’re available in any style or size. The doors can open in or out, based on the design. A frameless shower also provides a more open and elegant look to a bathroom.

No matter the shape or size of the shower you want, you’re only limited by your imagination when requesting a custom design. A new and upgraded shower will not only add beauty to your home and increase your enjoyment of the bathroom, but it will also increase the value of your home. And by using 100% non-porous acrylic material in your shower enclosure — which is long-lasting, resistant to mold and mildew, and easy to clean — shower maintenance is a breeze. It’s one of the best investments that a homeowner can make. So, don’t put off updating one of the most used rooms in your home for another day.
